CI’S Fastest Network just got 30% faster

Customers accessing JT’s 4G mobile network in the Channel Islands using the latest mobile handsets are now experiencing faster download speeds, thanks to a software upgrade JT has recently undertaken.

JT’s 4G network was recently independently proven by almost 600 Islanders to be the fastest and with the scheduled upgrade it further improves the customer experience.

JT are sponsoring a series of four IoD Jersey lunch clubs, the first of which took place on the 20th September at The Grand Hotel & Spa. The guest speaker was Richard Corrigan, Deputy CEO of Jersey Finance. His address focussed on ‘financial service and the transparency debate.’

The next session in the series takes place on Tuesday 18th October. The guest speaker will be Deputy Gavin St Pier, President of Policy and Resources for the States of Guernsey. Deputy St Pier will be speaking to the IoD members about his new role and will share his views on inter-island cooperation under the topic ‘Working better together’, a hot subject amid the recent EU referendum result. This session will also be taking place at The Grand Hotel & Spa from 12pm to 2pm and tickets are available via the IoD Jersey website.

Autism Centre Receives Boost From Golf Day

The annual Autism Jersey golf day, sponsored by JT, took place on Friday 12th August at La Moye Golf Club raising £15,000 for the charity.

Good weather and yet another excellent turn-out ensured the success of the day, which involved 22 teams enjoying a round of 18 holes followed by lunch in the Clubhouse. A raffle and auction, including a golf flag signed by 2016 Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke, boosted the funds raised which will go directly towards the development of a purpose-built Autism Centre in Jersey.

Embracing the Digital Journey – The Return of National Coding Week

National Coding Week is set to return for its third year, encompassing the whole digital journey. The week-long series of events, sponsored again this year by JT, aims to encourage adults to try their hand at digital skills from learning the basics of coding and app development, to digital design and online marketing.

Taking place from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd September, National Coding Week offers the opportunity of free-to-attend training sessions for anybody who is interested in understanding how to embrace digital skills. Its ‘crowd sourced’ approach to sharing knowledge means the success of the week rests on passionate computer programmers, developers and digital professionals who are willing to give something back to the digital community and host their own events.
