IoD Seminar to focus on Managing Growth and Innovation

The next seminar in the Institute of Directors’ Winter Series, sponsored by JT, will draw on the views and experience of three Guernsey-based entrepreneurs who have brought very different products to local and global markets.

The seminar will be held on Friday 3 March at the Digital Greenhouse at 12.15 pm.

Entrepreneurs Jay Aylmer of The Potting Shed and TagTeam, which is developing intelligent wristbands for crowd control at large gatherings; Matt Watson of Silverback Sunglasses, which produces quality but affordable lenses and frames; and Nick Magliochetti of Waves, Guernsey’s newest airline which promises an Uber-style service, will discuss how their backgrounds, experience and mindsets have affected the decisions they have taken.

Jennifer Strachan, of Startup Guernsey, will also join the panel to offer the benefit of over 20 years’ experience in managing established businesses, angel investments and new ventures through their growth stages. Iain Beresford, IoD Committee member and event organiser said: “With practical insights from three companies with great ambitions, the seminar will explore the diverse governance, managerial and strategic issues arising across all aspects of businesses as they undergo transformational growth and subsequently mature.”

Tamara O’Brien, Deputy Managing Director of JT Guernsey said: “We’re pleased to continue to support the IoD by providing these topical and well-attended lunchtime events for its membership. “As the only locally owned communications provider in the Channel Islands, and with over 120 years of experience, JT has played its part in the growth and prosperity of thousands of local businesses of all sizes, all of which have varying levels of complexities but are looking for solutions that are right for them. There is no request that we haven’t dealt with – big or small – and we are proud to bring that experience to the next generation of dynamic and forward-thinking SMEs across the islands.”
